Hibiscus or Weed?

ross2012June 19, 2014

I had a tropical hibiscus die over the winter. I cut it back and waited for regrowth but hadn't seen any. Recently, something has begun growing from the ground next to the dead tree/bush. It is probably just a weed, but I wanted to make sure before I ripped it up. I know very little about plants. This new growth has come up very fast. To the best of my memory, the leaves are similar to the hibiscus. Please help.

which is to say.. it has nothing to do with the dead bush behind ...

some are poisonous ... either get rid of it.. or further the ID research ... many have very pretty berries that kids might stick in their mouths..

a bird did you the favor.. when it landed on the shrub ...
