Bush/shrub with purple flowers?

Not sure what this is. Bought a house with this growing very nicely next to a few hostas. has pretty purple flowers (not pictured). Any ideas?

Looks to me like a perennial geranium - are you sure it's a shrub? Are the stems near the ground woody?
