Do you recognize this?
4 0'clock seedlings ...??
i might even see a hand grenade seedling there...
or not ... lol
Looks like Rose of Sharon seedlings.....
I think Ken is probably right...Mirabilis jalapa 'Four O'clock' or 'Marvel of Peru.' Check out the link below...lots of good information.
Ken, I always thought the seeds look like hand grenades, too. :-)
Here is a link that might be useful: Mirabilis jalapa

Thank you all. We'll wait and see what we have there. I did have rose of sharon and mirabillis jalapa planted there, thus it could be either one.
I also think they're Rose of Sharon... I yank them out of my garden by the dozens every year to keep them from taking over (my trees are particularly prolific, it seems).
I have pulled out thousands.
I thought rose of sharon as well. Have no experience w/ Mirabilis.
It could be either or something else entirely. Trying to make a positive ID from seedlings with no true leaves yet is iffy at best. Post more pix after the seedlings develop further. :-)
I think they are 4 o clocks, we have them growing everywhere here. I've never seen a RoS seedling though.
Wait til it gets some true leaves then you'll know for sure! :)
Is there beech trees (Fagus) around ?
