Sweet Smelling Plant

This shrub has a sweet scent that fills the air and can be smelled up to 20 feet or so away. The scent reminds me of hot caramel. The leaves have a slightly sticky coating. The shrub covers an area of about 12 feet square with branches that stand up to 3 or 4 feet tall.

Thanks. I think it probably is a variety of Escallonia. Although I couldn't find any pictures of a variety that looks exactly the same as this one. I'll watch for flowers over the next few months, that should help nail it down.
