Turning an adult dog into a puppy
I have an adopted dog that came from a vet hospital that was looking for someone to take an elderly mans dog. The owner had to go into a nursing home and of course he was not allowed to take the dog with him. She is a Shiba Inu crossed with a Mini Dachsund and her favorite sport is killing mice. When I ask if she has to go potty she will run to the front door if she has to go and then she does her thing and comes right back in.
Normally if it is raining she will look out the door and if it is raining she looks up at me as if to say I can hold it for a while till it stops raining. Last night it snowed seven inches and I opened the door to show her the snow and she could not wait to run out. She has a Shiba Inu curly tail and thick neck combined with dachsund ears which she can hold up like large fox ears and only half as tall as a Shiba Inu.
After running around for an hour and a half it got to the point where the snow was up to her chest and she had to leap to get through the snow. Shiba Inu's come from Japan and have a fairly thick coat and she did not even act like it was cold. It was so fun to watch her as she leaped and played in the snow while her license got clogged with snow and became silent so that she could run up on us without us hearing her first. Finally after an hour and a half it was time to go to bed so I brought her in and she quickly dropped off to sleep.
She is now twelve years old and she was not even sore the next day.
