The old problem is back: ads IN threads

anntn6b(z6b TN)March 6, 2009

Once upon a time Spike owned and ran Garden Web.

Then he sold it.

Then the folks he sold it to, sold it to GE corporation and put it somewhere in the management order of thinkgs.

Sometime in the second or third sale, we starte seeing linkages within our postings.

And example, in a thread to Redsox, I used the words Gardens and Degrees. Both now show up green and get floating ads above them.

Before there were enough complaints that they got dropped. With current economic times, I'm not sure what will happen, but I hate the additive ads.

I may just have to start gurdening and grow rises.

I just noticed that myself Ann, noticed slowly...

I clicked on one, thinking the poster had embedded a photo but was taken to Garden Junk forum for no reason that I can come up with....nothing in Garden Junk had anything at all to do with the topic being discussed.

A minor waste of my time, but still a waste.

At least you have to mouse over them before they pop up. I think they're doing a limited test run because I don't see it in every thread. Maybe if we complain now they'll stop it before it gets any bigger.

I have Firefox but those ads were bleeding through. New Firefox installation and sign in at bottom of rose pages helped me.

They went away, but are back again. And new ads after you post to a thread too!
