How is everyone ???

zeffyrose_pa6b7(6b7)March 23, 2009

It seems like forever since my last post.

Just thought I would drop in to check on all my friends here.

Spring is popping up with daffys and crocus.Soon the roses will be blooming---YEAH !!!

things with Robyn are still dragging along-----Not much change there-----

I will be getting my 3rd Epidural (in this series) on Wed.-----the last one has helped a great deal----

I can't believe it but there are some days when I can walk without a cane---"whooppee"---LOL

My DH's brother Dave will be having open heart surgery Mar 30-----All his tests were fine including a stress test but the catherization showed more than two serious blockages--and several smaller ones -He has Diabetes which I'm told can cause damage that doesn't show up in the usual tests.

So we will be spending a few days in Delaware .

Hope all is well with everyone----

Off to take a walk----whooppee

We will be in Delaware because that is where the hospital is located where BIL will be having open heart surgery--

I think there is a place near BIL and SIL in Delaware where people can gamble but that is not my cup of tea-----

Interesting new member, giles. Reminds me of other gentlemen once here.
Florence, I hope Dave's surgery goes well. One of my mother's friends has to have open heart also.
Spring will certainly make you feel better. Hope Robyn's situation at least will move along so she can look forward to the future.

Hello Florence!
I'm glad to hear you're out walking and hope the epidural tomorrow gives you continued relief.
May your BIL's heart surgery go well and smoothly and I hope he has a speedy recovery.
My DH's next knee surgery is scheduled now for the Thursday before Easter. I told him that when he is all done with his therapy, he'll need to be the one to run and fetch 'cause his knees will be better than mine, LOL!
We still have snow here, but hope you're enjoying spring already. I know you're enjoying blooms indoors with your beautiful African Violets! :-)

Whooppee is right if you're taking walks and sometimes without a cane - I'm so happy to hear the epidurals are working for you.

Spring is coming really slowly here - somehow we've had lots of cool weather and chilly rain, only one nice day I can think of in the last several and that was Saturday.

I hope your BILs surgery goes beautifully and easily so you can have a bit of a chance to enjoy Delaware - is Delaware enjoyable in early Spring? (You wouldn't find me in the casinos either, but then I've never had enough money I could easily lose some :))

I hope we get some Spring-like weather soon, I need to be outside! Paperwork is all caught up, filing really done and not just stacked, all our small business tax info is at the accountants after many hours prep from I want to get dirty in my garden, do some work that is fun for me.

Be sure to let us know how next week goes....Hugs!!!

It's great to hear from you. I am glad that you will be able to walk around the garden this spring. Get out there - but take it slow.

Thanks for all your kind thoughts-----I can't believe it but I almost feel like a "real person"--it has been a long painful several years-----I don't know how long theses shots will work but it sure beats anymore surgeries----

Carla----Ha Ha so who do you think Giles might be ???----LOL

Anne----I hope DH surgery goes well Bob had both of his done at once and he is doing very well---I'm sorry to hear your knees are not good----It is a mess to be in pain especially if you are a gardener--No more strenuous gardening for me----just grateful to be walking.

I guess from now on I will just resign myself to walking around like Lady Astor with a basket over my arm and a big hat and clippers ---LOL

Maureen --I hope spring will be visitng you soon--I was hoping to hear from you.

Harry --nice to hear from you (neighbor)---LOL

Can't wait for the roses

I'll hold the good thought for your brother in law's procedure tomorrow.

It's great that you are feeling better, and my hope is that you will be pain-free, 24/7. Then you can enjoy the garden to your heart's content.

Hi Florence and everyone.
It's nice to hear from you and I'm glad you are walking better and with less pain.

Things are starting to sprout here in Oregon. I just did my first mowing, which is a sure sign of spring. I have been busy avoiding the rainshowers to do some weeding and mulching. We just got off spring break, and Max came home from New Orleans for the week. We went to the Oregon coast for a few days to relax and whale watch. I am back at school now, hoping to have a job next year. The recession has been terrible for education in our state.

I hope everyone is staying healthy and happy and getting ready to enjoy a rosy spring and summer.

Hi everyone. I haven't posted in at least five years but now I think I will because I have some time. You see I'm laid up with a broken leg at least for another month (a very bad break), I used to spend hours here on both forums but I had to quit because I didn't have the time. I've missed all of you and BTW there is always an open invitation for those of you around SW CT to come by any time to see the garden. And also I'm proud to say it will be on the cover of the May/June issue of Connecticut Gardner magazine. So far this year I have had to hire all work done in the roses and all has not gone as well as I would have liked but they made it through the winter with flying colors so hopefully all will be well. In the future on this side I will bring you all up to date on some of the characters I used to discuss.

So much has happened. My daughter moved to LA and bought a fabulous house in Pasadena. It was a foreclosure from a bank that she got way below market. They also bought a hillside house in Mt. Washington which is a part of LA so they have two houses. Two houses for about 2/3 of what they sold their house in Wilton for. Now we are also looking for a foreclosure as a place to stay for the four months a year we expect to spend out there.

I have talked to lots of people who grow roses there and it is totally different from here, a lot easier. I think I'll have maybe 10 but they will be incredible. The rest will be plants appropriate for that area plus a lot of tropical stuff.

My daughter is very happy and her kids are terrific. I have always thought I would like to try living in So. California and now I can't wait. And the real estate collapse has created amazing opportunities but I don't think it will last much longer. So my wife and I are off to California at least as part time residents but I don't think we will ever give up Connecticut. And we still have two kids back here. I'll let you know about them next time and of course I'll bring you up to date about Dorothy.
