any of you lop-sided?

andrewlina(Z5)April 26, 2007

The weirdest thing happened to me the other day on my way into work. After I got out of my car and I was walking toward the steps and down the hall,my body kept pulling to the right. It was like my right side of my body had a mind of its own. It was for a brief minute or so,it didn't last that long, but it has got me bugged. I mentioned this to my Mom and she said the same thing had happened to her once or twice. What the heck is going on?

Could it have been one of those mini-strokes? Did you have any numbness or weakness on the left side?

You mean a TIA (trans ischemic attack)? No,there was no weakness or numbness on that side of the body. I was able to talk okay and no side was weaker than the other,it was just that my body was veering me to the left. How odd!

I had a total hip replacement back in 2001-----as a result my leg is longer than my other leg. If I don't wear the lift in my shoe on the other side I walk sort of lop-sided.

Have you had any surgery lately???

Head cold? Allergies? Might be something wrong with your inner ear. That upsets balance occasionally. Any pain in the hip area? Sliding out of a car seat can create enough drag between the fabric of your clothes and the upholstery to tweak your hip. It happened to me once. The dr. called it a tortion pull. Had to go to a chiropractor to fix it.

I was just getting over strep throat and was sicker than a dog,but I was on my last day of a 10 day regimen of antibiotics. That could be it! Thanks for all the input!

I would think it's probably your ears, but for the record, I had a huge number of oddities like this that actually were due to a nerve disease!

Very, very rare, but you know, watch them, see if they get worse, etc. and see a neurologist or specialist if they don't clear up.

I was not up on nervous system symptoms at all, but if I'd seen a neurologist, she would have recognized the distribution and progression, etc. And neuros never think you're silly for bringing those things up!

Mine got ridiculously obvious later, so the not-clearing-up or worsening is the biggest red flag, IMHO.
