And the Post Office Called

rozannadanna(8 TX)April 17, 2008

this morning about 8:30 - bright and early for them. Post Office has never called my house in all my life. We have chickens - 8 rhode island reds - 5 bantam's and 4 ducks - think we have had them for about 5 weeks. We decided we would like a couple of more ducks for the pure entertainment value of them and so we looked on line (my favorite shopping place). We couldn't make up our mind so we ended up ordering 3 kinds - 2 of each - we figured we have room for 6 more ducks. Mind you we have no idea of the sex of all this poultry but with our luck they are all "XY" chromosone.

Anyway, bright and early the PO calls and says "your birds are here - come and get them". Off Bruce trots to get the baby ducks AND low and behold there are 9 more chickens in the box - I didn't order them and didn't pay for them. When we ordered they said on small orders they might put a male in the box for warmth. I will bet money I now have 9 roosters - what the heck am I going to do with all these birds????

Suz, if I was real broke or starving I could kill and pluck one of those chickens but I wouldn't pluck a chicken for $5.00 and I can buy birds all day long for $5.00 apiece. 9 roosters is a little too much.

Why not tie them up with pretty little bows and "gift" them to your ex for taking such good care of your roses while you were away? Hopefully those roosters like to get up REALLY early

Thats too much and timely someone is playing a joke on us and tossed a fancy Black silky rooster into our garden/ Well roosters don't go over big in Manhattan so it's on it's way to a bird sanctuary out on LI. 2 days later and someone has put a common white chicken in our garden. Those are pemitted in manhattan so our garden just might keep it.Though I doubt that!
