The Fragrance of the Rose

The disciples were absorbed in a discussion of Lao-tzu's dictum:

"Those who know, do not say;

Those who say, do not know."

When the master entered,

they asked him what the words meant.

Said the master, "Which of you knows the fragrance of a rose?"

All of them indicated that they knew.

Then he said, "Put it into words."

All of them were silent.

from One Minute Wisdom by Anthony DeMello

Keep your thoughts positive,

because your thoughts become your words.

Keep your words positive,

because your words become your behaviours.

Keep your behaviours positive,

because your behaviours become your habits.

Keep your habits positive,

because your habits become your values.

Keep your values positive,

because your values become your destiny.

I like both quotes, but especially Gandhi's.

As I was reading the 2nd one I didn't even have to see who said it. That man was amazing and he sure hit the nail on the head with this one,in a way that cuts through all the crapola and gets right down to it. I guess that was his style though.I sure would have liked to sit down with a cup of darjeeling tea and chatted with him
