Millions of Sweet Gum seed balls

catherinet(5 IN)April 13, 2014

This is the first year we've had so many Sweet Gum seed balls fall. And I have an above ground stocktank watergarden in the vicinity.
Do you think they are toxic to waterlilies? No fish.
I will have to scoop them out every day. Thankfully they float.
Anyone know if they are toxic to lilies? I'm thinking no.

It was a good year for sweet gum balls. We even tried treating our tree with Indole 3-butyric acid in hopes that it would reduce their number but it didn't.

I don't think they're toxic to water lilies or fish.

Have you thought about adding mosquito fish to your water garden?
