Delaware Handicap

Anyone watch it on Espn.Saturday

My father was track superintendent there until his death in 1968.I grew up there. It was trip down memory lane seeing his office, where our house stood, trees I climbed, where I rabbit hunted,etc..

Rare to see your youth like that.

What a treat. I can"t imagine. I went home to see my past and it was a Korean
hospital parking lot. NOT memory lane. Hope yours was a good visit.

I didn't see it but are you talking about a horse track in Delaware? I think some of them are offering slot machines now. Fill us in.

Slots now but when I was a kid Racing was the only game in town.Delaware Park was owned by the duPont family and they ran it as an upscale place trying to emulate the English with their ``Darby''.A couple of months of racing which was fun and the other 10 months the 700 acres were ours.Could not think of a better place to be a kid.Fortunately that was such a sheltered life I never did get ambitious.Spent my whole life climbing mountains to see what I could see instead of ``getting ahead''.

Pete that is probably the best way to have lived your life. Maybe the cause of living longer too, without the stress of trying to "get ahead". I was missing work a few days ago, until I spoke with an ex-coworker and he informed me of the dog eat dog world out there and it made me realize it is nice to be retired. Now I only miss the employees.

doncha love being able to play in the wide open spaces like that? When we were on Ohio, I walked Max through the empty golf course and it was like having our own little world...
