What is a plonk?

Are they Roses cuttings that were deadheaded.

The dictionary said "cheap wine" or "things in your kill file"

Plonk = a vase of roses, not formally arranged. Just cut and "plonked" into a vase.

Funny, I have found a new language on this board too and I can figure out some meanings but not others. Saw "enabling" quite a lot - I think I have that figured now, but nice to know there is always some one around to define for us. tee-hee!

I love "PLONKS" the best------I'm not crazy about formally arranged bouquets but I do love the plonks I've seen here.

My English sister-in-law used to use that word to refer to cheap wine, I think, which doesn't jibe too well with this usage. Perhaps I misunderstood her (wouldn't have been the first time!).

nope, you didn't misunderstand her, Plonk is used as a term for cheap wine. There might have even been a brand of wine called "Plonk". Don't ask how I know...

Now "enabling" is not just a rose-specific term. It is used in many forms to describe the process of luring (encouraging, pushing) someone into an activity or into continuing a behavior. Like when I go to craft fairs with friends and gently persuade them into making major purchases, when I leave with only a cookie. I just call myself a "personal shopper".
