Big floppy leaves - what is it?

AkomJuly 25, 2014

This plant is about 6' tall now and becoming woody. I'm trying to decide whether to leave it alone of if it might be contributing to my allergies (this is the first time I'm seeing the spiky balls on it).

Leaves about a foot long/wide.

The closest thing I could find was a velvetleaf, but I don't think that's what it is. Tried using a ton of ID websites, to no avail.

Thanks!

Keep all furry pets away...the burs are AWFUL, in fact I'd advise you to either uproot and shred the whole plant, or burn it to the ground with charcoal lighter fluid (as a pet owner).
