Need advice on perennials choices for front yard

bunkers(z5 CO)October 27, 2007

Looking for advice on good low-maintenance choices for perennials to go in my front yard landscape ... and may need to be tolerant of occasional wetness and very occasional over-running with water, as this area is within a drainage swale, mainly just draining ~1 acre total.

My plan from a landscaper is shown below. I may not be able to modify it much.

Also, any ideas on the ornamental grasses would also be appreciated.

Currently, this area is all grass, but has some remaining drainage problems -- thus this plan from the town and my developer. So low maintenance and asthetics will be important.

HI Scott,

That's a lovely design you've got there. I'm not familiar enough with your growing conditions in CO to be able to help. Have you looked at High Country Gardens? They have a fantastic selection of really hardy plants that you could choose from.
