I have a lot of this growing in my plant bed close to the pond.
What on earth is this?
Looks pretty as it fills the floor up but I have a feeling this might be some weed :(
Not a weed but a horrendously aggressive spreader - Houttunyia cordata. And this doesn't even appear to be the more popular variegated form which is slightly less aggressive. btw, loves water - will grow IN the pond.
You are the best, thanks so much :)
Found the link based on your guidance - http://www.onlineplantguide.com/Plant-Details/1126/
I have one more posting here - http://forums2.gardenweb.com/forums/load/namegal/msg0718024929680.html
Would you know which one this is?
Thanks so very much again.
If solid green, probably just the species. New growth can have a reddish tinge. And the variegated form, 'Chameleon', can revert back to its solid colored cousin fairly easily.
The green form is an herb used in Japanese, Vietnamese, Laotian and Northern/Northeastern Thai cuisine.
Don't know where you live, ddkg - but that plant is every (well, every one I know) gardener's nightmare.
