This plant is growing outside of my garden on my driveway, can anyone recognize what this is? Thanks!
Ajuga reptans, bugleweed.
Definitely a weed, IMO. I brought home one plant and it is coming up everywhere. Not easy to pull out. I'll have to get the shovel in gear. They have a spiky purple flower in the spring that lasts a week or two.
I love it. The blue flowers in early spring nicely bridge the gap between spring bulbs and perennials. It is easy enough to pull if it outgrows its alotted space.
FWIW it's planted as a groundcover sometimes.
Bugleweed? How cool! My naturopath used to prescribe it for me. Great stuff, thank you!
