ID help please

Growing in SE zone 8a full sun. some of the specimens are 10ft tall or more. All have single, straight trunk, no branching. No signs of seed/flower that I could see. Reminds me of sumac but it's growth habit seems wrong.

Pull one of the compound leaves off and look at the leaf scar it leaves behind.

I'd say ailanthus altissima, tree of heaven, but the leaf stalks are very red. Could still be that, but I don't recall seeing one so red.
