Dragonflies and BT (mosquito dunks)

CaraRoseJune 13, 2013

I'm using some mosquito dunks in the bog area of my pond, since it's slightly separated from the main pond with a retaining wall and is separated from the fish and doesn't get movement from the waterfall.

Today, much to my surprise, I had a blue dasher in my yard. I love the thought of dragons breeding in the pond (assuming they don't get immediately consumed by piggy goldfish). Will the mosquito dunks harm dragon fly larva?

The only insect larva affected by the dunks are mosquitos and black flies.

twice I found dragonfly nymphs clamped on to small goldfish; haven't felt the same way about dragonflies ever since. (the fish died)

On the other hand, now that I have so many goldfish, maybe I need MORE dragonflies...
