Unknown Purple Berry Tree

Jeff_07920July 17, 2014

I found this berry tree in a Union County, New Jersey park and can't identify it.
Note that the leaves have smooth edges, not serrated edges,
The unripe berries have gooseberry like pattern. The ripe berries are dark purple with little light colored dots.

Thank you for your help with this.
