All-American Rose Selections

The 2013 All-American Rose Selection rose is the last AARS rose selection ever. There will be no more AARS roses after 2013.

I don't know much about those, but from other comments on here it sounds as if it will not be much of a loss.

A new program has been created that will emphasize sustainability in new roses. It's called American Garden Rose Selections (AGRS), with the support of rose societies, what's left of the rose industry, and various other constituencies including botanical test gardens.
More information can be found on page 56 of the January -February issue of the American Rose Magazine in the article entitled "2013 Nursery Guide"

I like the idea of the new AGRS. I think it's important to stress growing the right rose for the right place.
