A friend who lives in southern Illinois sent this image. I have searched extensively and cannot identify it. Ideas?

Kinda looks like a Calla seed pod that I recently opened. Each little bump or segment of the pod had a seed in it.. Over 50 seeds.

Did your friend say it grew in Illinois? Looks kind of like a Raffia palm seed. Not an Illinois plant unless they're swiping it from a botanic garden. The Latin name is Raphia.

Magnolia seedpods are shaped somewhat like that, but I don't think that's what it is.
