A daisy or sunflower?

This one is an annual and blooms in Summer here in Southern California. Looking to see what species this is. I assume a sort of wild sunflower?

Maybe golden crownbeard (Verbesina encelioides). There are many yellow composite flowers in California, but when comparing the foliage it could be a match.

Here is a link that might be useful: Golden Crownbeard

Thanks so much Gyr. This one comes up in an abandoned lot. I often admire these flowers and wonder if they have any breeding potential to come up with something less "wild-looking."
