This plant has a white aster-esque appearance...found on edge of wet woods, NC mtns.
Thanks for any ID!
Whole plant...it's on a bank...it is shaped (plant-wise) like a woodland sunflower.
Hate to be a pest.....but does anyone know what this is?
those are always tricky
could it be an Aster divaricatus/ woodland aster?
rather guessing actually, the flower color fits thoughâ¦
good luck, bye, Lin
Here is a link that might be useful: Aster divaricatus
It is not a sunflower. Actually the flower made me think of Polymnias, but I think it is an aster. There's so many of them :(
Could be Sericocarpus or Eurybia.
Ok, I get the message :) Too many aster-like plants out there!
I googled all the genera mentioned above and got a headache! Flowers all look so similar and I don't know enough about these plants to know how variable the petal numbers can be...I could go with leaf shape and that discounts some, but too many were still left in the mix.
Thank-you everyone for your input!
yes, DYC hits it (damn white composite)
