impossible to kill shrub

mattp321August 13, 2014

This is a shrub which cannot be stoppped.

Chop it to a stump, it comes back even stronger than before.

It laughs at roundup.

Any ideas? This is northern va.

Cover the area where it grows with something that completely stops light coming to the shrub.. OR .. keep on chopping while it has small shoots so roots will become exhausted.. OR.. dig it out
But you should know your enemy name first. Hope somebody will tell you soon. :)

if RU wont kill it.. you arent using RU properly ..

and its NOT A SPRAY THING...

you apply full strength RU or stump killer to the fresh cut ... just the green tissue just under the bark .. the cambian layer ...

The "full strength RU" ken is referring to is the concentrate, not the RU you spray with.

A bottle of concentrate will go a long way. You can dilute the concentrate little by little and mix up more spray (for the rare situation which can't be cured by anything but RU). Or you can share the concentrate with your neighbors.

For a further savings, buy generic RU concentrate, which is the chemical glyphosate sold by someone other than Monsanto.

I don't use a lot of poison, but do spray some weedy areas in the spring. I've bought those generic concentrates twice, because of their much lower price. Even though they report a similar glyphosate concentration to that listed on the Round-up bottle, the generics don't work nearly as well. I'm not a fan of high-priced originals, but in this case won't use the generics again.

Interesting, jekeesl.

My late father gave me a bottle of RU concentrate some years back; it will last me forever (if not longer), so I haven't had the need to try the knock-offs.
