About 3 feet tall, perennial in 6B. What is it?

Looks like it is a species of Goldenrod to me. Need photo of leaves and stem for a more accurate identification.

Many different kinds, looks a bit like Solidago nemoralis. You say you are in 6B but it would be better to say what state (although I guess it could be Indiana based on your name).

Goldenrod is a nice native perennial, especially clumping forms like these.
