starting mums from seed

sunflower123(7)May 5, 2006

I WOULD LIKE TO START MUMS FROM SEED TO SALE IN FALL, NOT SURE WHEN THE BEST TIME IS. I'M THINKING MAY/JUNE. BUT THEN DON'T I HAVE TO PINCH BACK SEVERAL TIMES. ANY INFO WOULD BE HELPFUL.

I'M NEW TO THIS FORUM AND REALLY HAVE ENJOYED ALL THE GREAT INFO, SO FAR.

HAPPY PLANTING

Do not cover the seed soil temp 60-70F & takes 10-15 days to germinate.......
from germination to transplant 4-8 weeks & from total time to flower 10-18 weeks (Ideal pH 5.2 to 6.0) You count back
pinching adds time to "Total Time' to flower & need short days to set flower buds......
Extension service can be a big help
