My mom loves to make sweet rice with Gac (the traditional vietnamese red sweet rice used in wedding and engagement). Where may I get a Gac plant for her or how do I germinate Gac seeds? HL
I haven't grown this, but am trying its first cousin, bitter melon, for the first time this year. The link below should take you to a discussion in the Asian Vegetables forum. One suggestion there is to get seeds from a Chinese pharmacy or mail-order supplier; the Chinese name is given. It looks as though soaking and maybe a light rubbing with sandpaper would help germination. A search in the Asian Vegetable forum may turn up more discussions, or you could start a new thread there. Good luck.

I have 20 gac seeds. I need amorphophallus titanum seeds or seedlings.
I bought seeds from www.gac-seeds.com. Many germinated with no problem. They also have live gac plants.
I don't know about Gac specifically but I find a number of Asian veggie and medicinal herb seeds and plants at the local Oriental markets.
