Two roadside plants to ID

cpackjr(z6 WV)August 20, 2013

I travel a lot of forest and back roads looking for wildflowers. Here are a couple that I hope to get an ID on.

The first is a shrub that i kept seeing.

The next is a plant with Blue flowers and was found standing erect and some were cascading over small ledges.

1. Japanese Knotweed.
2. Campanula divaricata?

Here is a link that might be useful: Fallopia japonica

JK - although impressive is a horrendous invasive - in the UK it is the top problem invasive bar none. Please don't be tempted to transfer it to your garden.

Unfortunately, Japanese knotweed is a major problem in many parts of the US as well.
