Can i plant leggy Zinnia deep...

Maxine(5MA)May 12, 2009

Hi folks

question...my zinnia are healthy but realy tall and lanky. What i'm thinking is that if i plant them deeper than the root ball, the stem a few inches down, perhaps they would be hardier

Does that make sense?

Thanks!

Dale

YES !! and it works too. I have planted many many annuals so that only an inch or less is above the soil. Most annuals can be planted like this. Perennials Cannot !!. Perennials (alot of them anyways) will die.

Have fun !!

I have and the plants did great! I think the leaves just decompose and new roots start popping out of those areas.
