how do i relocate a start of a holly bush?

jilliebean9700(7a)April 17, 2011

have these bushes in my front yard not sure of the type bc they were there when we moved in. one branched off & created the beginnings of a new bush about a foot or less away in my flower bed. i'd like to relocate it,but it seems to be attached to the mother plant at the root(it's already about a foot high & seems very strong). what is the best course of action to do this?

Embothrium(USDA 8 Sunset 5 WA)

Cut the connection between the parent plant and the layer, then transplant same as any other.
