evergreen screen

dgibsonApril 17, 2010

We are trying to hide three utility boxes at the back of our back yard. I want something evergreen so the boxes are blocked out (from the house and patio) all year long. Prefer ultimately around 5-10 ft tall and I need to span @ 20-25 ft long. It is fully exposed to sun all day and to wind all year. We may put in a pool soon so nothing deciduous will be considered--and no photinia please---I've tired of spraying fungicide. I have 4 dwarf maiden grass in already for summer "blockage" but need the full year screen after I've cut back the maiden grass. Considering Eleagnus amd Ternstroemia presently. Any other candidates?

How about good ol', plain ol' Manhattan euonymus? Gets 5-6' tall, evergreen in OK, a "neutral" plant that does its job. Rich, emerald green color thru the summer, yet not visually compelling, rather, just "there."
