Can beach rocks be put into a koi pond?

Hi there,
I just went to beaches in RI and collected some rocks for my koi pond. Can i put the rocks in the pond? or do i need to soak/rinse them out before putting them into pond?

Ahhhh... RI, my home! Which beach?

I would definitely recommend washing them to get the salt off. Maybe soak them overnight in a vinegar solution and then rinse them really really well

Anytime I use rocks from an outside source I boil them, rapid boil 20-30 minutes, this way it gets the rocks hot enough to kill any parasites or bacteria that may cause harm to your fish
