masking tape to make seed strips

marie99(z8 SC)November 29, 2006

We painted this summer and I have a ton of both blue and regular masking tape left. Would masking tape be good for making seed strips for the smaller seeds that can be so hard to handle?

I would not recommend the use of masking tape for seed tapes. Newsprint that decomposses in the soil without the glue. A glue made of flour and water will do no harm. Al

When I had a greenhouse I attempted several experiments in making seed strips. I don't recall tape working. Under some conditions you may have a fungus problem with newpaper and homemade glue. Sometimes it works just fine.

Toilet paper with plain old vanilla elmer's glue works quite well.
