overwintering water cannas

billhiggs(6A)October 6, 2012

any suggestions on overwintering my water cannas?

keep wet under a flourescent light in my basement or can they be overwintered in a dark frost free crawl space like my normal canna tubers?

Thanks

Bill Higgs

since they are at the surface of the water, my pond definately freezes solid down for at least a foot, which would mean the tubers would be frozen solid as well, That doesnt kill them?????

I certainly cant leave my terrestrial cannas in the ground

My pond is about 18" deep. I'm not sure how deep it freezes but this particular plant has been around for at least 6 years.

I would take them out and do with them the same as your other cannas.
