2 yrs of drought and a harsh winter resulted in die back on my shrubs...thinking about pruning to lower new growth?

if there is nothing.. or very little at the end of dead brown sticks ...

it goes without saying.. to remove them ..

and at that point.. i would go as low is i could go ...

i dont know if i would go as far as calling it 'rejuvenation'.. as one would discuss with shrubs.. more along the lines of removing dead stuff ...
