container roses

andrearkMarch 17, 2013

I have a very shady back yard. In order to plant 6 rose
bushes correctly, I had to have a few major limbs trimmed
from some very large and very old firs. Without butchering
any more of my trees, the only place I have in my yard
that gets enough sun is a large (20x20) very deep cement
slab that would cost a small fortune to remove....(I am not
wealthy)..I have read mixed reports on growing roses in
containers. I am already crazy about my roses and would love to have more. Could I plant hybrid teas in containers, if they were deep enough and had proper drainage?

In a 25 gal. nursery pot, you can grow just about any rose you want. I have a rose friend in Central Florida that has grown ALL his prize winning HT's in these pots.
