I pruned my liriope and noticed only o e had noticeable buds so is it safe to assume they are dead completely or do they not show their buds?

I'm trying to get a picture of your plants and the buds you are talking about. Liriope is evergreen in my experience so it should be easy to tell if it's alive or dead. Do you mean there are no new leaves coming? Or no flower buds visible? Can you post a picture of what you are describing?

So if roots are alive they can push new shoots of growth? I didn't know that lol, but does this work for other plants and shrubs as well?
