Hugelkultur and spent mushroom growing logs

gonebananas_gwFebruary 20, 2012

I've wondered what to do eventually with depleted logs from mushroom growing. If they are so punky as to break up well they can just become mulch or compost. If they are still quite woody they can be firewood. But if in between, they might become an experiment in this.

Add them to your bin or if they get watered a lot, they will break down. I have a bin that I have some wood clips in. I added some coffee now I am growing like monster fungus in there. The fungus is breaking them down fast. Keep them as wet as possible.
