8 hp Yard Machine

btruchonJanuary 4, 2010

I have an 8 hp Yard Machine Snowblower. It is about 10 years old. I'm in Burlington, Vermont (33 inches yesterday) and just started blowing my walk which has small "pea stones". The snowblower suddenly stopped throwing snow. I shut off the machine and noticed that I had broken one of the shear bolts on the auger. After fixing this, the inside wheel (auger that shoots out the snow?) continued to turn freely, without any friction and would not engage the auger to make it turn. I then pulled out the auger which is attached to the inner wheel (auger). Now I have no idea what to do. The snowblower still starts but the auger(s) won't turn. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

We need a clearer picture. The two front spirals are augers and the rear piece that throws the snow through the chute is an impeller. So are you saying that the impeller is turning under power -which means it is secure to the shaft? Or is it spinning on it's shaft meaning that it isn't secured? Are you seeing the shaft turn that goes to the center gearbox and the augers are not turning? What part did you remove?
