Dividing Bowles Golden Carex?

kimka(Zone 6B)April 20, 2012

Does anyone have experience with dividing Bowles Golden Carez? How small a piece can I take (how much root does the division have to have?

Or can you plant this carex from seed and how do I save seed from it. My one is in "bloom" right now, but I'm not sure how to gather the seed.

my experience of dividing carex is essentially, even the smallest piece will regenerate - literally, a mere few blades with a scrap of root. You don't need to be tender, just spade a clump out and water in well.
