Brute Air Compressor by Briggs and Stratton

Pooh BearFebruary 28, 2009

I need a small compressor. Mostly to air up tires.

Might use it occasionally to run my air nailer.

I have been looking at these compressors at Walmart:

Brute Power Air Compressor

I know it has a low SCFM rating. But it should suit my needs.

What about the quality of the machine itself.

Thanks.

Your air nailer will use a fair amount of air. A small compressor is o.k. for short bursts but if you are framing you will spend a bit of time waiting for it to catch up. I have a pancake portable which is good for bicycle tires and cleaning small parts but not much else.I used it with a 1/2" impact to remove the blade from my mower and that is all it would handle.

I would think at 2 nails per minute
it would handle my air nailer no problem.
The slowest link in the system is me.
And I ain't getting any younger.

Except for the low SCFM rating it looks like a good compressor.

Thanks.

Ok, I bought one. $200. Seems like a nice compressor.
Sounds loud sitting in my little metal storage shed.
Doesn't pump up real fast, but not too slow either.
Hopefully it will turn out to be a great deal.

For anyone who happens to read this (as it is now a bit old) ..my buddy, who is a professional carpenter - uses the 10 gal in his work. We just finished building a wall of built in bookshelves, The Brute worked like a charm.

I am trying to find one, as I am pretty sure Walmart is out.
