Pressure washer engine dies when gun trigger is pulled

submerjFebruary 8, 2012

The engine seems to run pretty well on my Troy Bilt washer. I can clean with it pretty well for 10-15 mins. After a while, when I pull the trigger to wash, the engine dies. It will start right back up every time but as soon as I pull the trigger, the engine will die. The pressure seems good while it is working properly.

Not familiar with pressure washers, but-
I assume when you pull the trigger, the governor on the engine opens the throttle.
An engine stalling under those conditions indicates a fuel delivery problem.

My guess is either-
A restricted fuel filter
A clogged vent in the fuel cap.
Try loosening the cap momentarily and see if the problem goes away for another 10-15 minutes.
