Penstemon pinifolius 'Mersea Yellow' seeds?

slazin(z8 BC)April 1, 2012

Hi -- does anyone know where I could find (mail order)Penstemon pinifolius "Mersea Yellow" seeds? I live in Canada, near Vancouver, but used to live in New Mexico, and grow many SW plants in my garden. I can't easily import plants, but I do grow a lot from seed. But I can't seem to find these seeds anywhere!

Many thanks!

I was under the impression that it was a random sport and won't come true to seed. Seedlings would probably be red.

I could be wrong though. I just mail ordered a plant of this myself. I'm growing it on in a gallon waiting to plant it out.

It looks very similar to my Penstemon pinifolius 'Magdalena Sunshine'. According to High Country gardens Penstemon pinifolius 'Magdalena Sunshine' is 'slightly more compact than 'Mersae Yellow' and is a bit more floriferous'. You may be able to find 'Magdalena Sunshine' locally.

By Googling I found a couple of seed catalogs that listed it but neither have a current supply, so I think it must come true from seed. Neither company was one I had any experience with.
