need help identifiying this tree

khsmurthyDecember 6, 2012

I need help in identifying the tree that's in the house I bought recently in California. A landscaper said it was probably a walnut or hazel nut but he wasn't sure. There are a couple more trees nearby that he said were weeds, and they looked similar to this. Right now there are no flowers, so I don't know if it's a flowering tree. If anyone could identify the tree, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Juglans californica var. californica commonly grow as a multi-trunk specimen when not crowded such as in your picture.

A 'landscaper' thought it might be a hazel???? That's tantamount to a vet who thought your hamster was a giraffe. Get a new landscaper.

Hahaha! That was good!

Hazel, at least those I'm familiar with, look completely different. One linked in below for you to see.

That was great Flora! I noticed the same thing about the landscaper, but didn't put it together as eloquently as you. Thanks for the chuckle.
