Well, I've already located other specimens of Baccharis salicifolia (Mulefat) in Central TX. So, it is definitely possible! :)

I don't think someone from the UK is in a position to ID our native plants.
I've said as much about my own ID's outside the US, when no local help was offered.

That reminds me of when I kept seeing a species of common spider that had coloration outside what I had been seeing for decades. I kept saying "These are different.", but was dismissed and told they were normal, or it was a young one or that it was just a weirdly colored individual(s). 2-3 years later, it is big news that there are brown widow spiders in Southern California. The experts were surprised! I just thought "Oh, so that is what they are."
