possible the hardest tree to id need help

chicalafreaka16December 31, 2013

Hello everyone,
Thank you for looking to help me tackle one of the toughest ID projects I have seen so far. Any help would be appreciated and this one honestly has me stumped! (No pun intended)

This tree has to be an acacia but I am having a hard time figuring out what kind it is

Here is a picture of the bipinnate (On the right side of the Agave americana 'Marginata') growing independently with no variations in leaves

Yes, one of the black-wood types.

you don't say where you are, or if this is an intentional planting (the large one, I mean) or a result of random seed-spread.
I kept coming across mention of acacia koa...?

Byline says CA which stands for California in the US. Koa is unlikely, more liable to be one of the other species of the type I mentioned.
