Orchid?

jekeesl (south-central Arkansas)(7b)December 2, 2012

I found a few plants today that were along the water and heavily shaded in a perennially wet ditch. The larger specimen had leaves about 5 inches wide by 12 inches long, with either a few coarse teeth or damage from bugs. The other plants had leaves about 3.5 inches wide by 10 inches long. Both had leaves with veins running axially, as shown. Are these one of the Cypripedium species, or something else? I've never seen a Lady's-slipper orchid with leaves in the fall.

Never mind. I think this is just a very late Arnoglossum plantagineum (Prairie Indian Plantain) specimen. Odd to see those basal leaves this late in the season.
