water in generac cool air generator engine.

loiqt2013April 22, 2013

I have generac 17KW generator. The engine accumulated water due the environment. Can I flush out the water by changing the oil more frequently? Do I change the oil filter too? Any recommendation is appreciated. Thanks.

If the oil looks clean other than water in it, start and run it for a couple of hrs w/ or w/o a load. It should evaporate all the water. Short run times are the cause of this as the engine warms up just enough and when shut down atmosperic moisture condenses inside it.
