Taming the beast

Annabelle hydrangea, that is. Holy sh*t she wants to take over everything in her path. I love my Annabelles and wouldn't be without them but have to keep her within bounds, which means slicing off big colonies of roots. Ugh! I let my big one get away from me and had to hack at her yesterday, I must have removed at least 1/2 of the bush (and she's still pretty big after all that).

(Just UGH! to everything out there right now LOL!).

Half of gardening is not growing, but controlling the growth. Many would look forward to your problem. Al

I feel your pain. I hacked out a couple this spring and left the young shoots to take over, and I'm sure they will! Don't get me wrong though, it's one of my favorite, showiest, most reliable plants and I can't see myself ever getting rid of all of it.

That sounds amazing. What kind of soil do you have? The ones around here are quite tame in heavy soil.

Thanks, bye, Lin

I wish I had that problem, mine has not peaked through the dirt yet.....and when it does it's a bit spindly. It's been in it's spot for about 3 years now.
